Punk: Chaos to Couture

Punk is not dead! Not after one of the biggest nights in the fashion industry took place on May 6th at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. The Met Ball’s theme this year was Punk Rock, in honor of the museum’s latest exhibit, “Punk: Chaos to Couture”, a theme full of daring potential and promising fashion failures. The red carpet was laden with ensembles that varied anywhere from vintage romantic “punk” to punk rock glam. From A-list celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry to Hollywood’s has-beens, everyone showed up in their costumes as a hit, a miss, or even a self-proclaimed parody. While I found that the majority of the attendees ended up looking completely ridiculous with spikey hair and fishnet bodysuits, the following celebs embodied the theme with style and grace.

La Jolla Open Aire Farmers Market

This past weekend I took a mini vacation to La Jolla, California for our Fall Break. I had the time of my life on my much-needed get away and took plenty of photos to share. Shopping in downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp district, sangria tasting, kayaking, swimming with sea lions, and good company were all highlights of my trip. We enjoyed local foods and a fun atmosphere at the La Jolla Open Aire Farmers Market on Sunday.

Here are some of the other photos I collected over the weekend…
Sangria tasting at Cafe 21, located in San Diego’s Gaslamp district. We had “the flight”, which is a sample of each of their six sangrias… can you say, game over?

Blessed to swim with sea lions on our kayaking adventure.

Soaking up our incredible view. Good times and good vibes just about sums up my Fall Break. Take me back! Check out my instagram to see more of my photos from the weekend: @jessicawener
